Aalto University and at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture is well known of its internationally recognized high quality artistic activities.

The intense and creative community, students, faculty and staff all are working together to push for new ideas, approaches and viewpoints, across both disciplinary and national borders. The success of our fashion students in international competitions in recent years has given rise to a Finnish phenomenon, with talent-seekers from Milan and Paris paying visits to quickly catch the next star before grabbed by someone else. Creations of our film students are reaping fame in foreign competitions, an Oscar nomination in 2014 being the most striking example. Aalto students are also acclaimed in the most renowned international publications and at fairs and exhibitions.

In spring 2015, Aalto University achieved an impressive position in the QS World University Ranking. In the comparison measuring the reputation of institutions among academics and employers, Aalto University ranked 14th in the Art & Design category of top universities.

These outstanding achievements are down to people – both our distinguished students and inspiring educational staff. The stories from Aalto ARTS are made up of a great deal of talent, perseverance, creativity, courage, meaningful mistakes, passion, self-confidence, encouraging supporters, and big dreams. They illustrate a desire to touch others, and give birth to something new.
