Otaniemi campus

The School of Arts, Design and Architecture will move to Otaniemi during the summer 2018. The Department of Architecture and some parts of the Departments of Media and Art are already located in Otaniemi.

Main campus moves to Otaniemi, new building in 2018

Aalto University’s main campus is situated in the Otaniemi area of Espoo, Finland. A unique combination of education, study and business is densely packed into this small area. The EU Commission has already selected the Otaniemi campus twice as one of the most innovative regions in Europe. The headquarters of Finland's largest companies are located in the immediate vicinity. For example, Keilaniemi is home to Nokia, Fortum and Kone.

The overall design of the Otaniemi campus is originally that of the celebrated Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Aalto also designed several of the campus buildings. In addition to the main building, the Otaniemi campus includes many other buildings housing various departments and units of the schools of technology. The new Väre building will provide more teaching space for the growing campus.

Bachelor-level education moves to Otaniemi campus

Bachelor-level education in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture moved to the Otaniemi main campus in 2015. The Otakaari 1 building became a central hub for bachelor's degree students, a place where students from different courses and programmes meet up and study together.

The centralised campus supports boundary-breaking research and artistic activities by enabling versatile and active forms of interaction. The Aalto University campus is being built gradually in an economically and ecologically sustainable way.

Parking

Restaurants

Printing and Graphic Services

Unigrafia produces a wide range of printing and graphic services. More detailed service descriptions and other information is available on the Unigrafia website. Unigrafia's Otaniemi location is at Sähkömiehentie 3.

Sports Services

UniSport's Otaniemi site is located near the seaside in Otahalli (Otaranta 6). Unisport Otaniemi offers diverse opportunities for sports and exercise in the form of gym training, group exercise, ball games and various courses. You can also do outdoor sports, such as athletics and running, at the Otaniemi track.

Library Services

Aalto University Library's Otaniemi Campus Library is situated in the middle of the campus, at Otaniementie 9. In addition to an extensive book collection, the library provides information services and work spaces. Along with the main library, the Otaniemi area also has several libraries that are specific to different branches of science. These libraries are located in conjunction with the departments and units.

AYY service point

Aalto University Student Union's Otaniemi service point is a place to handle student union matters, as well as rent the AYY facilities and van. The student union's housing office also operates at the service point. The AYY service point is located at Otakaari 11.
