Knitting

In the knitting workshop students and researchers can design and produce various knitted fabrics and knitted products. Hand operated knitting machines as well as an industrial level knitting machine are available.

The knitting workshop is a learning environment where students and researchers can develop their own knitting structures as well as create knitted products, for example knitted clothes and interior textiles. Hand operated knitting machines as well as a computer-controlled industrial level knitting machine are available. It is also possible to receive guidance on hand knitting in the knitting workshop as well.

The knitting workshop operates in two locations: the knitting workshop is located on the Arabia campus and the Knitting Factory is in Otaniemi. The Arabia knitting workshop is equipped with computer aided, hand operated knitting machines as well as equipment for steaming, assembly and winding yarn. At Otaniemi on the other hand there is an industrial level knitting machine.

Working in the knitting workshop requires basic competence in knitting. These skills are taught specifically on basic knitting courses.
