Drawing and painting

The drawing and painting studios are used for core courses as well as for optional courses in life drawing, freehand drawing and contemporary art.

The Aalto ARTS’ studios are on the 8th and 9th floors of the university building on the Arabianranta campus at Hämeentie 135 C. The overall programme includes drawing, painting and colour theory as part of core and optional courses. The drawing, painting and colour theory studies are in rooms 802, 820, 821, 903 and 905. The drawing and painting studios are used for compulsory core courses as well as for optional courses in life drawing, freehand drawing and contemporary art. The primary objective of Art Studies is to let students use tools and methods that will support their professional competence. The contents of courses are therefore not just learning about techniques, but teaching also focusses on application and research opportunities such as two and three dimensional perception of materials from the perspective of art and design.

The premises used for Aalto ARTS’ core courses in art at bachelor level are on three different floors at Otakaari 1 X A. The premises include areas for two and three dimensional work as well as lecture theatres used for colour theory.
